Complete with a running trail and an enclosed dog run for both small and large dogs, the Schuylkill River Park offers water, biodegradable waste bags, benches, and enough shade to protect you and your furry friend from a particularly hot day. Additionally, the dog run is one of the only places in the city that allows your pup to play off leash.
Located less than a mile from our pet-friendly apartments in University City, Penn Park offers 24 acres of athletic fields and recreational open space on the eastside of the Penn campus. For you, the park includes two synthetic turf athletic fields, a multi-purpose stadium, and a 12-court tennis center, but for your pet the park contains an informal, natural grass playing field and off-shoot paths for lounging, walking, frisbee, and more. Penn Park provides plenty of parking on its adjoining surface lot and has plenty of shaded areas from their canopy trees.

Within a 2-mile radius, you will find an excellent selection of mainstream and specialty pet supply stores with everything you’d need to keep your pet happy. Take a stroll to the Baltimore Pet Shoppe, located on Baltimore Avenue, for a wide variety of healthy pet products or to Unleashed by Petco, which brings the convenience and affordability of the big-box store to your local neighborhood.
Less than a mile from the Old Quaker Building is the Ryan Veterinary Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania, or PennVet. From routine to emergency, PennVet will make sure that your pet is cared for in the best way possible no matter what is needed. Just a 20-minute walk from our apartments you’ll also find the O’Neal Animal Hospital. The small, neighborhood hospital offers a variety of services, such as annual exams, pet boarding, doggie day care, and grooming.
